Hey Guys! As you probably guessed I spend a lot of time talking about make up and I've found that a lot of women don't use primers in their make up routine or even know what primers are so I'm just going to quickly talk you through and show you a variety of primers at different price ranges.
A primer is a base for your make up, so after you do your skincare routine and moisturise your skin you then apply a primer. If you choose the correct primer for your skin type then it will hold your make up in place all day long without drying out your skin and can prevent oily skin too. I use a primer every time I wear make up and I honestly never have to touch up my face at any time throughout the day with foundation, powder or concealer. Typically I have dry skin around my nose and an oily T-zone so when I wear a primer I expect it to absorb the oil on my t-zone and not dry out the foundation around my nose.
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser is £7.99 and you can get it here
This primer is great if you like dewy looking skin, it's very nourishing and smooth. I found this to be a bit too greasy for my liking after a while of use but keeping in mind absolutely every skin type is different so what doesn't work for me may be perfect for someone else!
Benefit Porefessional is £24.50 and can be bought here
The porefessional is great for oily skin it just soaks up all the oil keeping your skin shine free and it really locks your make up into place. I personally found that if you have any dryness on your face whatsoever then this isn't the primer for you, because it dries out any oil it dries your skin out completely.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer costs £29 and you can get it here
I actually mentioned this primer in a previous blog post as I really was not fond of it at all. This genuinely is a great primer, it's very nourishing and soft and does exactly what it's expected to. The reason I didn't like this primer is because I really struggle with products that aren't oil free, they cause me to break out which is unfortunate but I used this on a friend of mine who has drier skin and it worked amazingly for her.
Mac Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage is £21 for the full size bottle which you can get here
Mac always offer free sample sizes of these primers so keep your eye out for them if you're eager to try them out! I actually really liked this primer, it's very velvety, it again absorbs oil but it also soothes redness in the skin which is amazing. I would absolutely buy the full size product but I actually have two sample sizes and they've lasted a couple of months so far.
Too Faced Primer and Poreless Oil Free Primer which is £24 from here
If you are a regular to my blog then I'm sure you'll have seen me raving about this primer plenty of times before, this is my absolute holy grail product. This primer goes on your skin like velvet, it keeps your skin matte for the entire day I can easily wear this for 12 hours and my make up looks like it's just been applied! Of course this is oil free so it works perfectly for anyone who knows the struggle of breaking out due to oily products!
Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer is £22.50 for the full size bottle here
That Gal is like a primer and highlighter in one, it primes the skin to lock foundation into place and it also gives a beautiful dewy glow. I have actually mixed this primer in with another primer on nights out to ensure my skin is seriously not going to budge but also looks beautiful and glowing. I bought this sample size along with two other products for £15 here because I really don't like paying for a full size product unless I know I'm going to love it!
I hope this was informative for a lot of you, if you have any questions or tips just comment and let me know!
