What I've Learned Through The Years - Beauty Collab!

Hey Guys! The lovely HannahSam and myself have all decided to collaborate to talk about our beauty journey. We all have different ideas of beauty and enjoy different make up styles so be sure to check our their blog posts to see their take on this idea!

I can honestly say I have come a very long way in my beauty journey, when I was twelve years old I used to pick up the palest foundation from any shop regardless of whether it actually matched my skin or not, I would then apply far too many coats of liquid eyeliner and that's about it. I had no idea why people used make up brushes or concealers and powders. Let's not talk about the fact I had no idea what brow products were! I think it's safe to say I also had no idea what contouring and highlighting was or why I would ever in my life need a bronzer!

At the age of sixteen I started wearing a very yellow toned foundation which I thought covered my rosy cheeks but at the time didn't realize I looked like I had jaundice! I began experimenting with false lashes and applied far too much mascara until it looked like my lashes were big and full but unfortunately they looked like disgusting spiders!

I have honestly been a victim to all of the cardinal sins of beauty, I've over plucked my brows till they're pencil thin. I have overdrawn my lips and brows until I look like I've been involved in an accident. I've worn too much blusher, I haven't blended my eye shadow, I've had eyeliner wings out to my ears and I've worn the most orange foundations you can get your hands on. I also used to chuck make up brushes in the bin because I had no idea you could clean and re-use them, oops!

So this is me now, twenty-one years old and I own a ridiculously large make up collection. I cannot stop purchasing make up and I have to know about every single product by every brand imaginable, it's a bit crazy! It's taken me a very long time to get here but I now fully understand that my foundation has to match my skintone, I understand the undertones of my skin and how to cover them without looking unwell. I understand that there are certain shades of lipsticks and eye shadows that just do not go with my ginger hair and green eyes! I am still not a person who wears make up everyday, in fact I think people are still quite surprised when they see me actually wearing make up but that's purely down to laziness, I just don't see the point in spending ages on my face just to run to the shops! However I do absolutely adore make up, I could talk about it for days and I love recommending products to friends and family and even playing around with other people's faces too! Since I have changed up my make up routine so often over the years I do believe it will continue to change, I'll use products suited to my skin as I age and I'm sure my color preferences will change and that's the exciting part, there's always so much to learn!

I do have to admit though when it comes to skin care I am awful, I really have no idea how to look after my skin properly at all or what products to use. However the fantastic Jorden set me up with a new skin care routine a few days ago and I am forever grateful so don't forget to check her out also!

Below is a little scroll through my make up through the years, enjoy!
