Hey guys! I've had a few people ask me what products I use to contour with so I decided to do a little post of my most used contour products. I've chosen products from all different price ranges so regardless of your budget you can still get your contouring on! When contouring, it's important to pick the right shade for your skin tone, if you have paler skin like myself then you should use ashy tones otherwise bronzers will appear very orange/muddy on your skin and if you have medium/olive/darker skin then you can use warmer toned bronzers/contour shades. I'm sure we've all seen the endless photographs of Kim K the contour queen so I don't think I need to explain what contouring is!
Sleek Contour Kit (light) - £6.49
This contour kit consists of a bronzer and a highlighter as well as a compact mirror. The bronzer is matte, it's very blend-able and you really only need the tiniest amount as it's so incredibly pigmented! The highlighter also is insanely pigmented and it's so shimmery and beautiful, I still can't believe how cheap this was! This is in a lighter shade but as it's still a bronzer it still has orangey undertones to it but still very usable on lighter skin. Also I've actually dropped this palette a couple of times and it's so sturdy neither the mirror or product cracked in the slightest!
Bourjois Delice De Poudre - £7.99
This is my least favorite product to use, This product comes out quite orangey on your skin and the texture really isn't consistent at all. You really need to apply quite a lot of this to your skin as it does come out quite patchy but it would be a good option for slightly darker skin as it won't come out too muddy.
Mac Powder Blush - Harmony £18
I recently picked this up from mac and I love it so much. This powder blush is slightly pink/ashy toned which again is great for paler skin, this just looks so beautiful in the hollows of your cheeks and just blends really well. I tend to find all mac powder blushes are very pigmented and apply very smoothly and evenly to your skin. This comes in traditional mac packaging I personally think it's a reasonable price for a brand name product.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer - £23.50
Again this product is more of a cool toned bronzer so this is perfect for paler skin also, it's also very matte so there is zero shimmer and goes well with oily skin. I find that this bronzer isn't too dark or pigmented so it can be used for an everyday look without looking too dramatic. As much as I love this product I do still think the price is a bit drastic when you compare it to the Sleek Contour Kit but this one does come in an adorable little box.
(L:R- Vanilla, Banana, Sand, Java, Fawn, Harvana)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit - £39
Finally, this isn't a product that I would recommend everyone to buy however if you enjoy a larger make up collection or if you're a make up artist/ just enjoy playing around with make up then I would definitely suggest this. This is just the basic kit however if you go to the ABH website you can actually customize and choose your own shades now! So this kit consists of three highlighters and three shading/bronzers, all shades are matte apart from Sand which is shimmery. Java and Harvana are very warm toned so they are ideal for darker skin however I stick to Fawn which is more cool toned therefore perfect for my pasty white skin. I honestly don't have a single complaint about this contour kit, I think all shades are fantastic, the pigmentation and texture and even the packaging were all worth the price in my opinion.
If any of you use different products to contour with drop me a comment so I can try it out for myself I'm always looking out for new products!
Thank you so much for reading!
