Ombre Lips!

Hey Guys! First of all, I apologize for the awful quality photos, I don't have a camera just now so I'm living off my iphone! Recently I was really unwell, didn't want to leave my bed at all but I decided to get up and try and make myself feel better with make up. So this look is more of an evening/glam look with a bit of a bolder ombre lip. I didn't contour at all with this look, I gave my lashes, brows and lips a bit of drama and tried to keep everything else simple which is basically just my eyelids and face because I can't do simple apparently.

Before I apply my make up I put a primer on. The Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser has sat in my drawers for months so I thought I'd try it out again, I then remembered why I stopped using this product. Initially this was a great primer, it's very smooth and your make up applies evenly but I find this to be very greasy and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone with oily skin.

Next step is foundation and concealer, I use Mac Studio Fix Fluid in NW10 and Nars Creamy Concealer in Chantilly. I've been using Mac Studio Fix for over a year now and I honestly have never used a more perfect foundation, it's high coverage, not too thick and it definitely lasts throughout the day. Nars Creamy Concealer is something new to my make up collection, I was initially using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I was told it was a dupe of Nars. Usually people buy the more expensive product then buy the cheaper dupe but for some reason I was the other way around! I really do prefer Nars, it's far creamier the coverage is beautiful and you really do get what you pay for.

I then set my foundation and concealer with Mac Blot Powder in Light. I have mentioned this product before, with this powder I don't use it all over my face just in the areas which tend to be slightly more oily so I blot it onto my T-zone and use it to set my under eye area. This powder does get the job done and I'm sure there are plenty more that do the exact same thing without the mac price tag but I don't usually buy a lot of powders so if anyone can recommend me one I'd appreciate it!

Next step is eyebrows, my eyebrows are a lot thicker and darker in this look than I would normally do however it was just to add to the dramatic look. My go to brow product at the moment is Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, this is a product that takes a lot of getting used to. You essentially take a tiny amount onto an angled brush and sweep it across your brows to create whichever shape you're going for and then using a spooley brush you comb the product through. If you can get your hands on this I would definitely recommend it, the product doesn't smudge at all once it's on your face and because you only need a tiny amount the product itself lasts such a long time.

For my eyes I used these two Illamasqua Vintage Metallix shadows, the left colour is Courtier and the right is Embellish. I honestly forgot to get a close up of my eyes so here's a swatch of each colour, these are absolutely amazing. I only use powder eyeshadows on my eyes but these were so beautiful I had to try them out and they did not disappoint. I feel like I definitely over use the word 'pigmented' but these definitely are just that, they also have a little bit of shimmer to them but not so much so that you wouldn't wear them during the day time. I chose these colours because they are quite neutral and because my lips were so dark I wanted a softer eye look. Also, how beautiful is their rose gold packaging?!

To finish off my eyes I went for my usual Illamasqua precision gel liner in Infinite and my RedCherry lashes in #43, again I have mentioned these before so I won't go on too much but I have recommended the lashes to a couple of women lately who have instantly fell in love with them too. The lashes are reusable, very soft and not heavy at all and they are 100% human hair. The gel liner is my go to, it's smudgeproof, the blackest black and just so creamy it doesn't dry out in the pot or on your eyes at all. Finally the mascara I used is Tarte Lights Camera Lashes, I'm honestly not too impressed with this one at all. I received this in a Glossybox and I was so excited to finally try out a Tarte product but I find this mascara to be too wet, it just doesn't seem to dry on your lashes the way a regular mascara would so I found myself checking for black marks on my eyes all day, it genuinely just did nothing for my lashes.

Finally, for my ombre lip look I used a matte lipstick and a lip pencil, I took Mac Russian Red and applied it all over my lips then I simply took Mac Nightmoth into the corners of my mouth and just blended it together to create a dark ombre effect. A few people have asked me how to do this but honestly it's as simple as that, you can line your lips with a red lip liner first then go in with the lipstick and then the darker shade if you prefer and you can also create this look with any colours at all it doesn't have to be Red and Purple/Black. I have no complaints whatsoever about mac lipsticks or lip pencils, I definitely think they are worth the cost and I really don't use any other lip products.

Here's a photo straight on so you can see the look in full effect.

If you have any constructive criticism let me know in the comments, I wasn't too sure what else to do with the rest of my face because the lips were such a bold choice but I just went with it!

Thank you so much for reading!
